If you happen to hear that your electronic cigarette makes a crackling sound when it activates, don’t worry! This is a completely normal phenomenon due to the rise in temperature of the resistance coil. The e-liquid contained in the wick reaches boiling point at 185°, causing the characteristic crackle.

The temperature of the resistance coil increases very rapidly when the electronic cigarette is first activated, causing the e-liquid to boil rapidly. This does not mean that the electronic cigarette is set incorrectly. However, there is the potential risk that a small amount of liquid may end up in the mouth, but this sensation is completely harmless.

For fans of rebuildable atomizers, this phenomenon is well known. When you build your own resistance coil and insert a cotton wick, it is common to activate the battery to check if the configuration is correct. At that time, pops and projections of liquid or vapor occur.

In general, if the electronic cigarette makes a crackling sound, it means that current is flowing through the resistance coil and that the wick is adequately supplied with liquid. If the crackling is too intense or too rapid, it could mean that the battery setting is not compatible with the resistance coil. In this case, check that the settings are properly matched to your resistance coil.

Is it a problem if my electronic cigarette does not pop? Not all resistance coils make a loud crackle. If the electronic cigarette is quiet, it does not mean there is a problem with the device or setting. Ultimately, a resistance coil that makes a crackling sound is a positive sign that everything is working properly.
